Pons Quintana women's ankle boot, Meghab model, in dark brown woven suede. The woven technique is the signature of this Menorca-based house: here it's handcrafted with 8mm suede strips — the EXPRESS technique — covering the entire upper, from toe to shaft. The wide strips change how the suede behaves. Each strip reflects light from a different angle, so the brown is never flat and the surface has a texture you can feel to the touch. The weave also gives a natural flexibility that a solid piece of leather doesn't have: the upper adapts to your foot from the very first wears. The closure is a side elastic gore, like on a Chelsea boot: you slip it on by pulling the back tab, no zippers involved. The shaft sits above the ankle and the toe is squared with rounded corners. The heel measures 7 cm, is block-shaped and covered with a wood-effect finish: a wearable height on a wide base, which doesn't demand the balance of a stiletto. The sole is non-slip rubber with a sculpted tread, and that's why this ankle boot works as an everyday shoe and not just for special occasions. With straight jeans cuffed above the ankle, the weave stays visible and it's where the craftsmanship shows. With a midi skirt and opaque tights, the boot closes off the leg without cutting it, as long as the tights are dark.
