Brown washed leather ankle boot

Green George men's ankle boot in Arezzo leather with wash treatment, dark brown colour. The ankle boot is a low boot with lacing that sits just above the ankle. The wash treatment is a drum-washing process done after tanning: the leather comes out softer, with small irregular creases and sheens that vary from point to point, almost like an already-worn shoe. Because of this, each pair has a slightly different surface. The toe cap is stitched on the outside, with a raised U-shaped seam that follows the shape of the foot: this detail originated on work and mountain boots, where it reinforced the upper at the point that flexes most. The lacing has burnished metal eyelets: four pairs of eyelets at the bottom, two pairs of hooks, and one final pair of eyelets at the top. The hooks are open loops where the lace clips on without threading through. This way the boot laces and unlaces more quickly. The top eyelet keeps the lace secured, so it doesn't come loose while walking. The laces are round, waxed and brown. On the heel there is a pull tab in green, white and black striped ribbon, which helps slip the boot on and provides the shoe's only touch of colour. The sole is rubber, Cortina model: thick, with a deep-lugged tread. The lugs provide grip on wet and uneven ground, and the thickness insulates from the cold of the ground during the winter months. A visible stitch runs along the edge of the sole. Inside, the lining and insole are in cuoio-coloured leather. Leather in contact with the foot absorbs moisture better than synthetic linings, which matters in a closed boot worn all day. The sole is embossed with the words "handmade in Italy". The shoe is sold in a eucalyptus-scented box, with a shoe bag and shoehorn.
