Women's Sangiorgio moccasin in dark brown suede with croc print, featuring a band and ring buckle. Suede is leather buffed on the flesh side, meaning the inner side: it has a soft nap and a matte surface. The croc print is an embossing, achieved by pressing the leather with a heated plate that reproduces the crocodile scale pattern. On suede the pattern stays tone-on-tone: the scales read through relief, with the grooves slightly darker than the rest. The effect is more understated than the same print on smooth or glossy leather. The moccasin has a stitched apron toe, meaning the U-shaped seam that closes the upper over the foot. At the midpoint of the upper there's a suede band with the same print, held by a large metal ring buckle in antiqued gold finish, with a bamboo insert. The bamboo shows its natural knots and a warm, light color that stands out against the metal and the dark brown of the upper. The toe is soft and slightly squared, the heel is 1 cm high: the foot stays nearly flat, with just a hint of lift under the heel. Inside, the lining is cuoio-colored leather and the insole is padded leather, with the brand and Made in Italy lettering embossed. The sole is rubber, thin and finely ribbed across the entire sole, which provides grip without weighing down the shoe's profile. Suede adapts to the foot more quickly than smooth leather with wear, but it's sensitive to water: it's best to treat it with a waterproofing spray before wearing and brush it dry to refresh the nap. The low moccasin with a statement buckle works with straight-leg ankle jeans, tailored cuffed trousers and midi skirts in wool or knit.
