Oxford abraded dark brown

Men's Sangiorgio oxford in leather with an abraded finish. The abraded finish creates a two-tone effect, darker on the raised areas and lighter on the flat surfaces, subtly shifting in appearance depending on the angle of light — an effect a uniform dye can't replicate. The shape is the classic oxford: an oxford, or "closed lacing", construction, with the quarters stitched under the vamp rather than overlapping as in a derby, giving a cleaner line and a more formal register, all else being equal. The toe cap, with its visible stitching outlining the profile, is the decorative detail that sets this model apart from a plain, seamless oxford. The sole is leather, stitched to the upper using the Blake method — a single line of stitching that joins upper and sole directly, here finished with contrasting yellow thread along the entire perimeter. This construction is thinner and more flexible than a double Goodyear welt, and it also allows for future resoling. For grip on wet surfaces, where smooth leather alone would slip, the heel and forefoot feature rubber inserts at the points where the foot bears weight with every step. Inside, the insole carries the hot-stamped brand. The laces are waxed cotton, in the same tone as the upper. The oxford is the most formal lace-up shoe for men, thanks to its closed construction that reduces visible volume on the instep: it pairs naturally with a suit, but the toe cap and abraded finish make it less rigid than a plain black oxford, suited also to a smart, tie-free context.
