This keeps the lacing closed and snug, making it the most formal version of the lace-up shoe. The leather has a glossy, crinkled finish (naplak): the surface is covered in small irregular creases that break up the reflections, so each pair has a slightly different pattern. The color is distributed as in classic two-tone lace-ups: dark brown on the toe, heel and lacing panel, ivory on the central part. The design is a wingtip brogue, also known as a full brogue. The toe ends in two "wings" that run down the sides of the shoe almost to the heel. Brogue refers to the decorative perforations along the edges of the panels: here they run in a double alternating row of large and small holes. All the edges are finished with a zigzag pattern.
