Bia brushed green

Napoleoni Bia loafer, in brushed bottle green leather with decorative perforations along the edge of the vamp and toe. The brushing is a finish that plays with light, lighter where the hand has worked it more, darker in the corners — a lived-in effect that's never flat, unlike uniform patent leather. The perforations running along the edge of the vamp and around the toe echo brogue detailing, typically found on men's lace-up shoes, here transferred onto a women's loafer: a masculine touch that adds character without weighing down the silhouette. The strap vamp, with the classic slotted cut, is the defining feature of the loafer: no lacing holes, the shoe slips on and off hands-free.

The sole is slightly raised, with an exposed leather welt running along the entire perimeter of the sole — the strip of leather stitched between upper and sole that visually marks the join, and which is also the point from which a shoe like this can be resoled once the sole wears down. The heel is low and block-shaped, offering stability you notice with every step, closer to an everyday shoe than a lightweight ballet flat.

Inside, the lining is full leather throughout, for a fit that doesn't trap moisture during wear. The rubber sole ensures grip on smooth flooring and wet pavements, where a full leather sole would lose traction. Bottle green is a colour that moves away from classic black and dark brown without giving up on sobriety: it pairs well with dark jeans, camel or grey trousers, and adds a touch of character to an otherwise neutral outfit.
