The shape is that of the "engineer" (or "Norwegian") derby, recognisable by the U-shaped stitched panel running over the toe - an extra sturdy seam compared to the classic derby, historically created to reinforce the upper on work boots and now revived as a characterful detail on dress shoes. Seven eyelets with round laces complete the bellows-tongue lacing. The welt is in leather, visible all around the perimeter of the sole: it's the strip that joins upper and sole with a seam visible from the outside.
